Go Berserk Training in Derry-Londonderry

Helping our young people to learn how to program a computer from a young age is central to the future success of our children, our region and how we teach IT. Together we can help to make Derry-Londonderry a hub of excellence for IT and as a result provide a strong, vibrant economy that we can all benefit from. We look forward to meeting with you.

Event times

There are four free events organised in March in local schools in Derry. Please have one person from your school come along to one of them. You will need to pay for substitute cover in your school where appropriate.

• Thursday 20th March at St Cecilia's.


• Friday 21st March at Lumen Christi College.


• Monday 24th March at Oakgrove Integrated College.


• Wednesday 26th March at St Mary's College.

Overview of the events

Derry City Council has provided your school with a class set of Go Berserk books for free and we would love to show you how to get the most out of them. We hope to share how we have taught pupils to make their own websites using HTML code.

You can read a recent academic report which detailed the amazing effects of the Go Berserk book in Northern Ireland schools here.

before the event

Please read the free first chapter of the Go Berserk making websites book before coming to the session, to familiarise yourself with HTML and the layout of the book.

details of the event

• introduction, including the rationale for the project
• lessons 1 to 3 of the Go Berserk book, including:
  • a basic HTML page
  • adding colours and pictures
  • adding links
• break for lunch
• lessons 4 to 6 and the Appendix of the Go Berserk book, including:
  • tables
  • adding video, sounds and movement
  • putting the site on the Internet
  • adding CSS effects
• discussion
